Personal Biography

Danny is currently the Manager, Scholarly Communication and ePublishing at the Australian National University. Her primary focus is increasing access to the scholarly output of the University through the ANU Research repository. Since 2006 she has lectured undergraduate Masters and Graduate Diploma students, as well as facilitating Science Communication Workshops at CPAS.

Danny has worked as a science communicator since 1996, most recently for two years with ABC Science Online as a journalist for News in Science, and was also a co-producer of Health Matters. She left the ABC in 2004 to work on her PhD.

Her work includes roles as the editor of Medical Imaging and Monitoring and assistant editor of Lab News.  She has worked in TV, radio and print, including a period as researcher for the ABC TV science program FAQ. She has also presented and reported for Talking Science, the Australian Museum Society's radio program. Her publishing work includes a project writing science activities for Japanese children.

Danny continues to remain active in the Australian media, regularly writing popular articles on her thesis topic.

Danny is a qualified group fitness instructor, teaching a variety of classes including some for the senior population. She lives in Queanbeyan with her husband and children.
